Thames Water have opened up 75 brilliant opportunities for young people for a 6 month paid placement via the government Kickstart scheme, these are currently based in Swindon, Reading and East London.
Within this placement, you will receive on-the-job training, as well as skills development sessions to help you with future employability. Thames Water is committed to paying Living Wage rates to all Kickstart employees at £9.50/ hr outside London and £10.85/ hr for roles based in London.
All our Kickstart roles will be based on 25 hours per week. With jobs in various fields, ranging from HR and Admin to field work and many more, there are plenty of opportunities available.
Support and Development:
The Thames Water Kickstart team will support you with a practice interview, to encourage confidence and help you to refine your interview skills before your interview for your chosen role. Our team will always strive to ensure that you are in the best role for you.
You will be supported through your Thames Water journey by our dedicated Kickstart team who are always available to answer any questions and ensure that you are happy throughout your six months placement with us. Thames Water have a strong understanding of care leavers’ needs and all Hiring Mentors receive training regarding how to best support their candidates.
A dedicated Kickstart Employability Trainer will act as the main point of contact and will provide training, coaching and mentoring. Employability training will support with specific aspects such as CV and interview preparation as well as broader development of essential skills i.e.:
- Communication skills
- Creative problem solving
- Collaboration and teamwork
The delivery of the employability training will be shared between our in-house dedicated Kickstart Employability Trainer and an external specialist training provider.
All Kickstart employees will also be expected to undertake mandatory training as part of their company induction, which will include H&S training, data protection etc. and will be encouraged to participate in additional training opportunities within their team and department.
A personalised development plan will be devised by the Kickstart Employability Trainer for each Kickstart employee. Mentoring and ongoing support will also be provided by the line manager who will liaise closely with the Kickstart Employability Trainer.
