The Social Mobility Foundation’s Aspiring Professionals programme operates nationwide and is open to all students in Year 12/ S5 who are care experienced and have gained at least 4 grades at either 9-4 or A-C* at GCSE (although if you’re a little off this, please have a go at applying anyway and write any reason your grades may have been affected).
You can apply online via the application form (where you’ll fill in some basic information about yourself and answer a couple of longer questions) here:

The Aspiring Professionals Programme
The Aspiring Professionals Programme runs from year 12 onwards and offers:
- University application advice (including university visits and Oxbridge & Medicine specialist support)
- Mentoring- students are matched with a mentor in their desired career sector
- Skills sessions with top employers
- Internships and work experiences
Employer Insights Programmes
When applying, you can also apply for Employer Insights Programmes, which have internships in Summer 2024.
The majority of insight programmes take place in London, where students will live in university accommodation, complete an internship at a top firm during the day and take part in activities during the evening and weekends. This is all completely free of charge.
This year we offered employer insights in finance (J.P. Morgan), law (Freshfields, Linklaters, Herbert Smith Freehills, White & Case and Akin Gump), engineering (bp), medicine (England only) and business (PA Consulting Springboard). We are expecting to run similar again in 2024, although this is subject to change.
The closing date for applications is 12pm Friday 15th December.
