YHA

Summary:

Youth Advisory Team role

Further Details:

We are looking for young people aged 16 to 25 from as diverse a range of backgrounds and experiences as possible to join our Youth Advisory Team.  Applications are open from 1st to 22nd November 2021.

YHA is a leading youth charity, and we share a common purpose: to improve the health, wellbeing, and life chances of all, but especially young people facing adversity and challenges. It is essential that we make sure young people (under 26) have a voice in how we are governed and what decisions we make.

The Youth Advisory Team was formed in March 2021 and exists to ensure that young people are involved in YHA’s decision making and governance. The team both advises and shares the leadership of YHA with our Trustees, executive and staff.

The Youth Advisory Team is for all young people aged 16 to 25 and we welcome anyone interested who is in this age bracket to apply.

YHA would like to particularly encourage applicants from:

  • Black, Asian and marginalised ethnically diverse individuals
  • people/persons with disabilities
  • people/persons with mental health conditions
  • people/persons who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, non-binary +
  • people from a low-income/socio -economic status
  • people not in education, employment or training
  • people from rural and inner-city backgrounds
  • care-leavers or people in care

We will support where there is a need for additional assistance and reasonable adjustments required by the postholder to carry out the role. YAT members will require access to a basic internet connection and computer set up to participate in virtual meetings.

This is a voluntary role with a selection process including interview and DBS check.  YHA asks for a minimum one-year commitment from successful candidates, with the option to continue to be a member of the team each year, subject to review.

Youth Advisory Team members will gain valuable experience in management and leadership.  They will acquire a deep understanding of YHA as a leading youth charity, how we work, and how we are governed.
