Theme: Rising as me, Overcoming challenges, Transforming and Finding your Identity
A Successful #NCLM 2025
National Care Leavers Month 2025 was a time to celebrate care-experienced people and help them prosper through a range of events and opportunities delivered by a wide variety of organisations.
2025 marked the first time this national event spanned an entire month.
Some of the Highlights
National Light-up
This year, we once more lit up buildings, works of art, statues and monuments around the UK in blue to celebrate National Care Leavers Month. This included the iconic London Eye, Blackpool Tower and the Channel 4 London offices.
Channel 4 Idents
Channel 4 reached 7.4 million individuals during the National Care Leavers Month, a reach of 12%. They showed idents, short animated and live-action videos, between programmes to promote #NCLM. The Channel 4 London offices also hosted the official light-up switch-on event.
#NCLM Opportunities
Around 50 opportunities dedicated to #NCLM were made available, ranging from discounts to workshops and support.
One notable event was held at Pinewood Studios, home to some of the world’s most recognisable film franchises, where an insight day gave care leavers the chance to explore careers in film and TV.
#NCLM Drop-in Sessions
During #NCLM, 5 Connects drop-in sessions were held, connecting over 35 care-experienced young people with employers.
Across the sessions, organisations offered career insights, money-management workshops, and well-being sessions.
The 2025 NCLM Drop-in Sessions were:
- NHS Midlands Partnership
- Resilient Bonds (Strategies for good mental well-being)
- G4S
- BayNal (Careers Software & Telecommunications)
- WMP Career

Working Together for #NCLM
The Sub-Alliance for Looked-After Children & Care Leavers, alongside care-experienced young people from across the country, were working together to coordinate plans for NCLM from early 2025.
The shift from a week to a full month was based on what care-experienced people told us they wanted. The theme and logo were designed by care-experienced young people, and the celebration continues to be shaped by their ideas and experiences.
