MG Scaffolding’s vision is to be the UK’s most trusted provider of sustainable scaffolding solutions. The company was established in 2002 and has now grown to be one of the largest independent suppliers of scaffolding services in the regions in which it operates. Experience, skills and technical knowledge, in addition to a flawless health and safety record, enable our team of professional scaffolders to deliver great results without ever compromising on safety. In 2022, we became part of the RSK Group, a leading integrated environmental, engineering and technical services business.
To support care leavers MG Scaffolding will offer:
- Scaffolding Apprenticeships with a starting salary of £15,600 (£60 per day) with progression payments and other benefits that include GP Service, Health Checks, Online fitness programme, Mental Health support, Nutrition consultants and expert case management. Apprenticeships are 36 months in duration with on site and colllege based learning and will lead to a fully recognised Level 2 Scaffold NVQ qualification. For full details of role and training see linked job description; And
- Non Apprenticeship Employment Opportunities on the ‘Starting from Scratch Programme’ which for a 19–20-year-old pays £70.00 per day and for care leavers aged 21 and over pays £95.00 per day – rising to £80.00 per day and £105.00 per day respectively when Part 1 Qualifications are achieved. This is based on an 8-hour day with 31 days per year paid holidays inc. of Bank Holidays. In addition a range of in work benefits are provided.
The Starting from Scratch Programme starts with individuals working in the yard for 3 months and during that time, we will assess and when we think individuals are ready, we will book them on to a touch screen Health & Safety Test. This will be followed by a 1-day COTS course at the nearest available training centre. When this test is passed a CISRS green card – or labourer card can be issued and this card is the passport required to progress onto a live building/construction site.
Labourers will always work with a qualified scaffold supervisor/chargehand, who will mentor them until they are ready to take their Part 1 training. The chargehand scaffolder will usually pick up the labourer from their place of residence, where they will be transported to sites and dropped off back at their place of residence at the end of the working day.
There is no set timescale for labourers to progress and they can work at their own pace with the incentive for continuous improvement based on the pay scale. The better you are, the more you earn!
