Sexpression is a near-peer independent UK charity with the goal of empowering young people to make decisions about relationships and sex by running informal and comprehensive RSHE (Relationships, Sex and Health Education) in the community.
We have 18 branches across the country. Our volunteers are trained to deliver workshops based on 6 Core Offers, which can be tailored to the needs/ requests of each school or college. We offer workshops for groups of young people aged between 11-18 (secondary-school aged).
Our 6 Core Offer Workshops are:
1) Bodily Changes – Can include puberty, menstruation, self-examination, cervical screening, pregnancy and pregnancy choices, menopause
2) Sex and the Media – Can include social media and the law, sexting, body image, porn, portrayal of sex in media
3) Contraception and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) – Can include methods of contraception, the concept of virginity and first times’, available sexual health services in the UK and locally, emergency contraception, sex and pleasure, STIs and testing, HIV-specific sessions
4) Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity – Can include different types of attraction, the difference between gender and sex, terminology, the law and equality, coming out and allyship, being transgender and gender non conforming
5) Healthy Relationships and Abuse – Can include the traits of healthy, unhealthy and abusive relationships, as well as how to identify these, grooming, how to manage and upkeep healthy relationships
6) Sex and Consent – Can include legal definitions of consent, how to communicate consent, why consent is important, what constitutes sexual assault and rape and where to get help
