The Carey Group is a family-owned construction business working across the UK. Our success is based on our commitment to deliver on our promises, respecting our clients, offering innovative solutions and producing the highest-quality work in safe environments.
To support care leavers we want to offer paid work experience opportunities lasting for 4-6 weeks in the Midlands area. The work experience we offer will give you the chance to try out and get experience of working and Careys and within the sector and wherever possible will offer progression into apprenticeships and/or employment opportunities.
For individuals who are interested in becoming General Operatives i.e. Groundworkers, Form and Steel Workers there are no entry qualifications, however there must be a commitment to undertake the work required to gain a CSCS card that we will pay for. Protective clothing will be provided and an experienced member of the team will offer support on a day to day basis.
If you are interested in a Civil Engineering experience leading to an apprenticeship including as a Quantity Surveyor – there is a need to have GCSE 4-5 Maths and English with a real aptitude for Maths in a Quantity Surveyor role.
And there may also be opportunities available for Business Administration depending on the needs of the project/site.
If no progression opportunities are available for participants on completion our team will provide mentoring support – assisting in the production of CV’s, offering careers advice for other opportunities in the sector and helping preparation for other interviews.
During your time with Careys all Careys you will be paid the National Living Wage – so it will be important that you discuss this opportunity with Job Centre Plus if benefits are affected.
