Summary: The Parish Council can support care leavers aged 18+ with the offer of volunteering opportunities in the community local library.

Donnington and Muxton Parish Council has an overall responsibility for the wellbeing of the local community and aims to Improve quality of life in the area, deliver services to meet local needs and represent the local community.

The Parish Council can support care leavers aged 18+ with the offer of volunteering opportunities in the community local library.  This will give volunteer care leavers experience of meeting and greeting customers, assisting with membership and search enquiries, helping with library events and the maintenance and reshelving of books and displays.  New volunteers will work alongside experience volunteers and will be given induction and on the job training.

Experience in the library will be a way to develop knowledge and skills that are transferable to a paid working environment and every support will be given to assist care leavers progress into employment.  Care leavers who may be interested in this opportunity should have good communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with people, plus literacy, numeracy skills with an ability to use IT.

The library is open to the public Monday – Friday and volunteering opportunities are available on Monday – Thursday for 2 hours between 9-3pm.
