Through business networks, events, skills initiatives and employer engagement, we help businesses develop their workforce, share knowledge and access opportunities for growth.
As a signatory of the Care Leaver Covenant, we recognise the valuable contribution that care experienced young people can make to the workforce. We are committed to raising awareness amongst our members of the benefits of inclusive recruitment and encouraging employers to consider how they can support care leavers into sustainable employment, apprenticeships and training opportunities.

Recruitment Opportunities
We will support you to access job opportunities within Cumbria Chamber of Commerce. As roles become available, you will be able to apply for positions in areas such as:
- Marketing
- Finance
- Membership and Sales Team
- Local Skills Improvement Plan work
We will also:
- Advertise our relevant vacancies via this page, so you can find them
- Operate a guaranteed interview scheme if you meet the essential criteria
- Provide you with a named contact who can support you through the application process
- Consider work experience requests and promote other work experience opportunities (please enquire if you are interested in this)
Championing Care Leaver Friendly Employment
We will work behind the scenes to improve your experience of finding and staying in work by:
- Increasing the number of employers committed to supporting care leavers
- Encouraging fair and inclusive recruitment practices across our network
- Helping to create more accessible, supportive and sustainable employment opportunities
Raising Awareness
We will promote awareness of the Care Leaver Covenant across our business network and highlight examples of good practice from businesses that are committed to supporting young people into work. We will also encourage conversations between employers, education providers and organisations working with care leavers to help strengthen pathways into employment through the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP), and other events such as our Business Bites networking.
