Have you ever thought about using your skills and experiences to make a difference to children, young people and families?

Family Rights Group (FRG) is a national charity working to ensure children can live safely and thrive within their families, and that children who cannot live at home maintain loving relationships throughout their lives.

FRG brings together legal and social work expertise with the experiences and voices of children, young people and families to influence change and improve the child welfare system.

Young people and families with lived experience are at the heart of its work, helping shape services, campaigns and decisions.

Current Vacancy – Programme Administrator

Role: Programme Administrator

Salary: £35,570 per year, plus £3,650 London allowance if London-based.

Hours: 35 hours per week (flexible working requests welcome).

Contract: Fixed-term, 2 years.

Location: Hybrid working.

Closing date: Wednesday at 10am for applications through Spectra. Other external advertising closes on Monday.

An Opportunity to Make a Difference

Family Rights Group is recruiting a Programme Administrator to support the delivery and expansion of its Family Group Conference (FGC) and Lifelong Links programmes.

These programmes aim to help children and young people maintain important relationships with their families and wider networks, supporting them to build and sustain meaningful connections.

This is an exciting opportunity as FRG has recently secured significant investment to expand these programmes nationally.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Children’s Social Care and wider senior team, helping ensure the programmes run smoothly and effectively.

What Would You Be Doing?

The role involves a variety of administrative and programme support responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting senior colleagues: Providing administrative and organisational support to the Director of Children’s Social Care and other senior staff.
  • Keeping programmes organised: Maintaining programme records, information and administrative systems.
  • Supporting programme delivery: Helping coordinate activities and ensuring the programmes run smoothly.
  • Monitoring progress: Supporting monitoring and evaluation activities to help understand the impact of the programmes.
  • Working with different teams: Providing flexible support across the organisation and helping respond to changing priorities.

Who Would This Opportunity Suit?

This could be a particularly meaningful opportunity for someone with lived experience of the care system or family support services who wants to use their skills and experience within an organisation working to improve outcomes for children and families.

FRG is looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in administration, project support or programme coordination.
  • Is organised, flexible and able to manage different responsibilities.
  • Can communicate confidently and work with different people.
  • Can use their initiative and work independently when needed.
  • Is comfortable working in a busy environment and responding to changing priorities.
  • Ideally has direct, recent and practical experience supporting the successful running of a programme.

Why Might This Be Particularly Interesting for Care-Experienced Young People?

FRG values the voices and experiences of people who have been directly affected by the care system. This role offers an opportunity to work within a charity where understanding family relationships, care experiences and the importance of maintaining connections is central to its work.

Your lived experience can bring valuable insight and perspective, alongside the professional skills and experience required for the position.

What Could You Gain?

  • A salary of £35,570 per year, with an additional London allowance where applicable.
  • Two years of employment experience within a national charity.
  • Experience supporting nationally significant programmes.
  • Opportunities to develop administration, organisation and project management skills.
  • Exposure to senior leadership and programme delivery.
  • The opportunity to contribute to work that makes a difference to children and families.
