The Mayor of London has committed to supporting young people leaving care by providing a 50% discount on all bus and tram travel across London. The offer forms part of the Pan-London Care Leaver’s Compact and demonstrates the mayor’s commitment to the Care Leaver Covenant.
If you’re 18 to 25 and a care leaver living in a London borough, you can get discounted travel with an 18-25 Care Leaver Bus & Tram Discount Oyster photocard.
How to access offer
Step One:
To take part in the scheme, you need to tell your responsible London borough that you’re interested in applying. If you’re eligible, they’ll share your data with TfL and you can then apply.
Contact your personal advisor or leaving care team.
Step Two:
You must apply online for a 18-25 CL Bus & Tram Discount Oyster photocard.
You need to provide:
- Your active email address
- Digital photo of you which must be a .jpg, .bmp or .gif file and be less than 6MB
- Details of a debit or credit card registered to a London borough address and pay £20
Once your photo has been accepted and your application is successfully completed, your 18-25 CL Bus & Tram Discount Oyster photocard will usually arrive within 2 weeks.
