What You Can Access & Learn

Permanent Entry Level Roles
FM Conway offers a range of permanent entry-level opportunities that are well suited to care leavers who are looking to build a long-term career. These include a variety of trainee positions across the business, both operationally and office based. Examples include trainee roles within our highways maintenance or site support teams, all providing hands-on experience, structured training and clear progression pathways.

Early Careers and Work Experience
We encourage young people to discover the construction industry through meaningful work experience placements, site visits and practical skills development designed to build confidence and career readiness.

Apprenticeships – Earn While You Learn
Our apprenticeship programmes give you the chance to gain recognised qualifications while contributing to real projects that benefit our local communities.

Apprenticeships cover a range of job areas including:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Quantity Surveying
  • Highways Maintenance
  • Asphalt Laboratory roles
  • Business Administration and HR functions

You will earn a competitive salary, gain hands on experience and achieve industry recognised qualifications without the burden of debt.

To support your transition into the workplace, we run an Apprentice Enrichment Programme designed to help you develop personal, professional and life skills that set you up for long‑term success.

Undergraduate Opportunities
For university students, we offer summer work placements and an Inspire Scholarship Programme. This provides paid industry experience, mentorship from experienced professionals and ongoing support while you complete your studies, helping you build confidence and practical skills before you graduate.

Career Development & Progression

Your development does not stop at your first role. We provide ongoing opportunities to progress, helping you build a career that grows with you.

Many of our senior employees began their careers as apprentices or trainees and have progressed through ongoing learning and new opportunities across the business.

To support your own development, our internal Learning & Development team will help you build a long-term career and explore new pathways within the business through:

  • Technical training relevant to your role
  • Personal development courses
