You will work on your own personal journey of goals and targets.

Beyond Food was founded because Simon Boyle, Founder and CEO, has seen firsthand how people can become unraveled and pushed to the margins of society, especially after personal losses or hardships.

Beyond Food is dedicated to helping individuals who feel their lives have unraveled or may be unraveling and are ready to make a change. The unique programme, refined over 15 years, combines expert support with compassionate guidance. Using food as a catalyst, we help people rebuild their lives, grow or regain independence, and enter the workforce.

Beyond Food focus on people, including Care Leavers, who need support, helping to transform lives from a state of unraveling to one of thriving, and to helping them become active, contributing members of society.

Offer Overview

United Kitchen is a three-week, 3 days a week experience aimed at 17 – 21-year-olds, living within traveling distance of Beyond Food’s Restaurant at London Bridge. There is then the chance to undertake work experience in the live restaurant for a further 12 days. After work experience you will meet employers and be supported to find work that is right for you.

We harness the power of food to inspire and transform. Our unique approach combines skilled facilitators, inspirational experiences, and powerful training, in one life-changing program.

United Kitchen is a practical, skills-based training – You’ll master chef skills & life skills. You’ll bake bread, fry mackerel, create risotto, and a pancetta Bolognese. It’s more than food, United Kitchen empowers you with tools & self-awareness, to take care of yourself, and be able to support others.

This programme will help you to become and remain employable.

Restaurant work experience

In addition, for 3 weeks after the programme, you’ll have the opportunity of work experience in Brigade, our social enterprise restaurant. Together, we’ll break through barriers, empowering you to take control of your life.
