The Foundation Course comprises of 12 weeks residential at the National Horseracing College (NHC) based in Doncaster, followed by a 6 week work placement with a racehorse trainer leading to an apprenticeship.
No academic qualifications or previous experience with horses required.
The course can be completed as a rider or non-rider. The rider course has a weight limit of no more than 11 stone wearing riding kit. For a non-rider there is no weight limit.
