We are a not-for-profit organisation that is focused on supporting children and young people to live safe, happy, healthy and successful lives. Our owners are Windsor and Maidenhead Council, and we deliver Children’s Services on their behalf.
All Care Leavers 16-25 are supported by AfC Virtual College which provides educational pathways; interventions to support learning; careers advice; training for education and business colleagues and leads the Care Leaver Recruitment Scheme across Achieving for Children.’
This is a summary of our commitments:
- Care Leaver experience is a protected characteristic in the Borough. This means that any decision or policy made by the Council will have to consider the impact on Children in Care and Care Leavers.
- No council tax 18-25.
- Appropriate housing and financial assistance of £150.
- Training in exploitation and safeguarding work.
- Contribute to local decision making through platforms and forums such as MySay App, the Kick Back Council and Care Leavers Hub.
You can access a range of tailored workshops covering a variety of topics from Careers Guidance, Employment Skills, and Preparing for University to Healthy Relationships, Personal Finance Workshop and Preparing for College and further education.
We offer apprenticeships, traineeships, work experience and jobs within the Council – a ‘family firm’ offer Care Leavers will have their health and wellbeing supported as a priority.
