Blackpool Transport is an award winning bus and tram operator, running services within the boroughs of Blackpool and Fylde and into the surrounding area, including Fleetwood, Lytham St Annes, Cleveleys and Preston.
The company is committed to supporting care leavers and want to give them a good understanding of job roles in the company and the wider sector and encourage them to apply for employment opportunities as they become available.
To start the company have developed a two hour work experience session which will;
- To provide an insight into a real working business and how we function
- highlight the different careers available at Blackpool Transport and the types of people/ skills we look for
- Give an insight into how to successfully apply for jobs
The 2 hour programme will be as follows;
Session 1 – Guided Tour of the Rigby Road Depot
This part of the experience day will consist of a guided tour around the Rigby Road depot, giving care leavers a chance to go behind the scenes of an award winning bus operator. They will experience first hand the different departments that keep our wheels turning. The tour will give insight into the everyday running of the business, plans for Blackpool Heritage Tram Tours and Tram Town, and our exciting plans for electric buses.
Session 2 – What a Successful Job Application May Look Like
This session will explore the different jobs available at Blackpool Transport and will give an insight into what successful job applications for these positions may look like. Care Leavers will walk away from this session feeling empowered that they know how write successful job applications and know what is expected of them in job interviews. This session will also include a bitesize briefing on customer service and the types of personable skills we look for from our staff.
