Thames Water is a Care Leaver Covenant signatory and offers a package of bespoke support to Care Leavers interested in employment ­and skills development opportunities within the water sector. 

As well as direct employment opportunities, we can also offer apprenticeships, internship placements, traineeships, and work experience.

Below is a summary of our current activities to support care leavers 

Apprenticeship opportunities – additional application support for Care Leavers including an opportunity to speak to a member of the team directly during the application stage. Guaranteed interview for all Care Leavers meeting basic criteria for the role. Our 2024 apprenticeship opportunities are now live- please visit our dedicated page to find out more and apply. Summer internships – bespoke package of support for Care Leavers applying for our paid summer internships for undergraduates. Placements are paid at national living wage level and take place between June – August. Our placement can be arranged across the Thames Valley and London region within a variety of different business areas: Operations, Capital delivery, Customer experience, Commercial, Digital. Bespoke support during the application stage includes 121 guidance and guaranteed interviews for all Care Leavers who meet the essential criteria for the role. 

Employability Training – fully customised Thames Water employability training supports candidates wishing to boost their confidence, gain insight into the water sector and valuable employability skills such as CV writing, interview preparation and communication skills.
