Programmes, Mentoring & Support for Young People Affected by the Care System

Summary: Power2Prevail Community offers various opportunities to support independence and next steps for young people who are care-experienced

Further Details:

Power2Prevail Community (CIC) exists to empower care-experienced young people to recognise their worth, own their story, and define success on their own terms – knowing that neither their past nor present circumstances limit their future.

Our core mission is to support care-experienced young people and those impacted by the care system aged 14–25 to successfully navigate the transition into adulthood. Recognising that “care experience” is broad, we extend our relational and developmental mentoring offer to young people in kinship care, those on the edge of care (Children in Need), and those supported by a Social Worker or Personal Advisor, ensuring no young person is left behind.

Our Services

Journey2Adulthood Programme (J2A)

Journey2Adulthood is a transformative 5-month programme designed specifically for care-experienced young people aged 16–25.

The programme is split into two parts:

  • 6 weeks of group sessions delivered three times per week
  • 3 months of 1:1 mentoring delivered fortnightly

The programme is inspired by the lived experience journey of co-founder & CEO Jade Barnett, who transitioned from being a looked-after child to independent adulthood.

On completion, participants receive:

  • Increased confidence and understanding of independent living skills
  • Celebration event to celebrate group sessions completion
  • A resource and contact book for ongoing support
  • £50 Resource Fund to support with purchasing items for next steps e.g employment, training, education etc
  • Automatic enrolment in Power2Prevail alumni network, offering access to further opportunities and 1:1 support

Bridge2Prevail Mentoring (B2P)

Bridge2Prevail Mentoring connects care-experienced young people, those in kinship care, or those on the edge of care (aged 14–25) with trusted mentors who understand care experience and life transitions.

The programme runs for 3 months, with 1-hour 1:1 mentoring sessions delivered weekly.

Bridge2Prevail is not about “fixing” young people. It is about walking alongside them — acting as a bridge between where they are now and where they want to be.

On completion, participants receive:

  • £50 Resource Fund to support with purchasing items for next steps e.g employment, training, education etc
  • Automatic enrolment in Power2Prevail alumni network, offering access to further opportunities and 1:1 support
