Introduction

Timpson is the UK and Ireland’s leading service provider of shoe repairs, key cutting, watch repairs, dry cleaning, engraving and assisted photo ID.  The company employs over 5,000 colleagues, with 1,934 owned stores which include Johnson Dry Cleaners and Max Spielmann and 115 Snappy Snaps franchises throughout the UK and Ireland.

Timpson are not worried about academic qualifications, previous experience or even what you write on your CV. The recruitment policy is simple, we recruit people with great personalities who are presentable, confident, chatty, and have great communication skills. The Offer

Timpson will offer work experience opportunities as close to your local area as we can. Following the work experience and if you are interested, we promise an interview for an available and suitable position. At this stage there would need to be an employment opportunity available or alternatively if there is no position available and the work experience is successful, your details can be kept on file to alert you of future vacancies. If following the work experience there is not an interest in pursuing employment opportunities a reference can be provided for the work experience completed.

Where care leavers are recruited as employees they will have access to various lines of support including:

  • An Area Team who are always available
  • The Area Colleague WhatsApp Group
  • A buddy/ mentor
  • A qualified company counsellor
  • Social events
  • Financial support
  • Mental Health First Aider
  • Help with driving lessons
  • Quit smoking scheme/ incentives
  • Access to company holiday homes

At this point Rachael Cooper at Timpson will get in touch with the individual and share further information on the company, the work experience and anything else they would like to know.

Rachel will also arrange the work experience and keep in touch throughout the process and liaise with the Area Teams so they are aware of the needs of individual care leavers.
