We’re here to support you in reaching your own goals around alcohol or drug use, whether that means stopping completely or cutting down/staying in control. You set your own goals, and we’ll help you get there with a wide range of treatments and support.
Here’s what you can expect from our services:
- One-to-one support: Work with a key worker who understands your situation, helping you plan your recovery journey with personalised support.
- Group therapy sessions: Join structured group work covering topics like coping skills, relapse prevention, managing cravings, mental health, and building confidence.
- Family support: When it feels right, we involve family members to support your recovery and improve relationships.
- Health and wellbeing checks: Access regular health screenings, blood tests, vaccinations, and advice from our medical team to keep you physically well.
- Harm reduction advice: Learn ways to reduce the risks associated with drug or alcohol use, including how to prevent overdoses and stay safer.
- Substitute medication: For some drug dependencies, we offer medication to help manage withdrawal and cravings safely.
- Detox support: Choose from options like community or home detox, or residential detox programs, with full medical and emotional support throughout.
- Peer mentors: Connect with people who have lived experience of recovery for extra guidance and encouragement.
- Specialised support: If you have additional needs such as unstable housing, mental health conditions, or are pregnant, we provide tailored care to support you fully.
- Mental health support: Our specialist team offers assessments, psychological therapies, and advice, working alongside your recovery plan if you have mental health challenges.
- Aftercare & sustained recovery: When you finish treatment, join our 5 WAYS recovery community for ongoing support through activities like mindfulness, fitness, creative workshops, and peer mentoring.

Forward Leeds is the city’s dedicated alcohol and drug service. We’re committed to helping people make positive changes, no matter how complex their needs are. Our experienced, compassionate team supports you without judgment and with practical advice, building on your strengths and past experiences.
What to Expect from Your Journey with Forward Leeds
Your first appointment will be an assessment where you’ll meet a worker who listens to your needs and helps set achievable goals. You’ll have a key worker to guide and support you through your recovery.
We encourage you to attend your appointments regularly and participate in group sessions and activities offered at our three hubs. Your recovery journey is led by you, supported by a team who know what works.
When you’re ready, we’ll help you connect with our Sustained Recovery team and 5 WAYS community to keep your progress going with ongoing support, activities, and connection to others in recovery.
