Start your career with Inspire North
Inspire North is a Community Benefit Society supporting people with their mental health, housing and wellbeing. We work with individuals who may have experienced homelessness, trauma, social isolation or other significant life challenges. Our aim is to help people feel safe, build confidence and move towards independent, fulfilling lives.
Our work is grounded in compassion, collaboration and respect. We use a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, focusing on what people can achieve and how we can support them to get there.
As a Care Leaver Covenant partner, we recognise the resilience, independence and life experience that care-experienced young people bring. We understand that starting employment can feel like a big step, and we are committed to offering meaningful opportunities alongside genuine, practical support.
Supported Employment Pathways – The types of roles available
Opportunities at Inspire North may include:
- Support Worker roles (mental health and housing support)
- Housing and tenancy-related roles
- Administration roles incl Finance and Human Resources
In frontline roles, you might support someone to maintain their tenancy, improve their mental health, build daily living skills, access education or employment, or reconnect with their community.
You will always work as part of a team and will receive training before working independently.
The support and development you will receive
We are committed to ensuring that colleagues feel supported from the very beginning.
Before you start
If you are successful at interview, we will guide you clearly through the onboarding process. If you need support understanding paperwork or processes, we will talk this through with you.
Your first weeks
Your induction will include:
- A structured introduction to the organisation and your team
- Training in safeguarding, professional boundaries and safe practice
- Shadowing experienced colleagues
- Clear expectations about your role and responsibilities
You will not be expected to manage complex situations alone.
Ongoing support
Once in post, you will receive:
- A named line manager
- Regular one-to-one supervision sessions
- Informal check-ins and team support
- Access to reflective practice in many services
- Clear processes if you feel overwhelmed or need additional support
We aim to create a workplace where asking for help is encouraged and wellbeing is prioritised.
Training and progression
Inspire North invests in staff development. Depending on your role, this may include:
- Accredited training in mental health, housing or support practice
- Trauma-informed and safeguarding training
- Opportunities to complete recognised qualifications (where appropriate)
- Internal development workshops
- Opportunities to progress into senior or specialist roles
We want colleagues to build long-term careers and grow with the organisation.
Safer recruitment and DBS checks
Many roles at Inspire North involve working with vulnerable adults or young people. Because of this, most frontline roles require an enhanced DBS check.
Having a criminal record does not automatically prevent you from being employed. Any disclosures are reviewed fairly and confidentially, and decisions are made based on the nature of the role and the relevance of the information. We are committed to fair and inclusive recruitment and encourage open conversations where needed.
Our commitment to care leavers
As part of our Care Leaver Covenant commitment, Inspire North aims to:
- Encourage applications from care-experienced young people
- Guarenteed Interview
- Provide a fair, supportive and transparent recruitment process
- Offer reasonable adjustments where needed
- Discuss additional workplace support openly and respectfully
If you need support with your application or would benefit from additional guidance, we encourage you to speak to your Personal Adviser or contact us directly.
