Essex County Council is committed to supporting, protecting, and empowering Care Leavers. We have a Job Interview Scheme for Care Leavers, which means that anyone who has spent time in the care system away from their family is guaranteed an interview, provided they meet the base line criteria. We also provide support during the application process such as a digital brochure which details each step of the process with ‘top tips’, the resourcing team also provide support and assurance prior to the interview if needed.

The only criteria for our Care Leaver Job Interview Scheme is to be a Care Leaver. It is that simple.

When you’re applying for one of our roles on: www.workingforessex.com just tick the Care Leaver job interview scheme box so that the Recruiters will be notified.

They’ll then be on hand to support you throughout the process – whether that’s through the use of our digital brochure which has been designed by our current Care Leavers, or a supportive call to explain the process and top tips.

Once in your new role within Essex County council you’ll have a comprehensive induction programme that comprises of group learning, self-directed information, resources, videos and documents. You’ll also be able to find more information about our employee support groups, wellbeing networks, and key people that are well placed to support you.
