Location: The Kingswood Trust, Wolverhampton

The Kingswood Trust is a charitable organisation dedicated to connecting people with nature through outdoor learning, health and wellbeing programmes, volunteering and community activities. Set within nine acres of woodland and green space, the Trust provides a welcoming environment where people of all ages can develop new skills, improve their wellbeing and build meaningful connections with others.

What We Offer

1. Volunteering Opportunities

Care experienced young people will have access to a variety of volunteering opportunities across the Trust, enabling you to gain practical experience, develop transferable skills and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Opportunities may include:

• Conservation projects
• Supporting community events and seasonal activities
• Social media and marketing
• Office administration
• Assisting with educational and family activities

Volunteer roles are designed to provide valuable experience while contributing to the Trust’s work supporting education, health and community wellbeing. Role descriptions will be available through
Support Staffordshire
and support will be provided throughout the volunteering journey.

2. Nature Connections Companion Volunteering

You will have the opportunity to become volunteer companions within the Trust’s Nature Connections programme, supporting older people who may be experiencing loneliness and social isolation.

This unique intergenerational volunteering opportunity allows young people to:

• Build meaningful relationships
• Develop communication and interpersonal skills
• Support the wellbeing of older people through shared outdoor experiences
• Gain rewarding volunteering experience that benefits both generations
• The programme offers a chance to make a genuine difference whilst building confidence and a sense of purpose through connection with others.

3. Free Saturday Visitor Access

Care experienced young people can enjoy free admission to the Kingswood Trust during the weekly Saturday public opening sessions (10.00am–1.00pm).

The offer includes:

• Free site entry
• Complimentary on-site parking
• Access to woodland trails, animals and outdoor spaces
• Opportunities to connect with nature in a relaxed and welcoming environment

This offer provides an affordable way to enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors and exploring the Trust’s beautiful surroundings.

4. Family Access Opportunities

Care leavers who are parents, carers or part of a young family can access opportunities through the Trust’s Family Access2Nature Programme and community activities.

If you work with or are part of a locally run group that supports families and you would like to learn more about the opportunities available, please get in touch.

This offer aims to ensure that young people with children or caring responsibilities can benefit from inclusive outdoor activities, family events and opportunities to spend quality time together in nature. The Access2Nature programme is designed to support families who face barriers to accessing nature-based activities, including financial hardship, poor mental health, limited access to transport and green spaces, and the additional challenges experienced by families of children with SEND or those facing trauma.

5. Health, Wellbeing and Community Activities

We are developing an online information hub to help our communities, including care experienced young people access local health, wellbeing, leisure and family activities.

The hub will bring together information from local organisations and community partners, making it easier for people to find opportunities that match their interests and needs.

Information may include:

• Community events and seasonal activities
• Outdoor learning opportunities
• Family activities and support groups
• Youth activities and volunteering opportunities
• Health, wellbeing and community support services

We aim to help care experienced young people and their families discover opportunities that support wellbeing, encourage participation and strengthen community connections.
