Volunteering Opportunities

Summary: Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust offer volunteering roles in which you can learn about the NHS & Health Care.

Further Details:

The Trust offers a wide range of specialist and general hospital services at their two main hospital sites, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital.

The Volunteering Services team would love to offer volunteering opportunities to care leavers within both hospitals. This would be a set placement in one of the hospitals of choice within the regular volunteering programme. You would start in a responder role, which is a very active role supporting different areas like delivering medication, helping patients to be discharged, wayfinding etc after which you would be able to develop into different roles.

Each hospital has a Volunteering Hub where volunteers come together to get briefed, trained, find information or have a cuppa with a biscuit during a break on their shift. The Volunteering Services team members are available to support during the Hub opening times from 9am till 5pm.

The Volunteering Services are not linked with the work experience department, but as volunteering is much more hands on, it actually gives a very good learning experience. They actively work on creating pathways for ‘volunteer to career’ several times per year.

Registration of interest is available through the website:

www.chelwest.nhs.uk/about-us/work-with-us/volunteering

There is a direct link for each hospital which opens up several times per year depending on supply and demand for volunteers in the Trust.

Following registration the Volunteering Services team for each hospital will contact applicants via phone and conduct an interview and if successful they will start the application process, which includes references, DBS and a Health Assessment survey.

After that there will be several online learning modules and a core training module to be completed followed by an invitation to a briefing and induction in the hospital.

All this involves access to their online volunteer registration platform Better Impact.

If the registration link is not open care leavers and their supporters should contact:
